Vice and the Bahamas – a day of three halves. #eqnz #chch

A day of three halves.

A workshop this morning on some topics which will be coming to council in due course – including a plan change and a submission on the government’s transport GPS (government policy statement) which will hopefully reflect Christchurch’s appetite for increased active transport options as part of the rebuild of the CBD.

I iced that cake with a half hour of vice. As chair of Council’s Regulatory and Planning committee, I get all the good jobs. Gambling, prostitution and alcohol – I love my job. And that was just the morning tea break.

Chatted with colleagues. Chatted with staff. Cycled back home. Had a wee lie down. Got up again.

Cycled to the board meeting with Sydenham business owners – we’re doing a Sydenham Town Plan soon and this was the first cut of discussions. All of the residents of Sydenham were there – all both of them. Doc and Liz. (Turns out that ephemeral “caravan Dave” was a figment of the army’s imagination.) Sydenham – population 2.

Biked home. Drizzle. Love it. Paused in Hansen Park to watch the women’s rugby team training. I must try that sometime.

And yay for the third half. My besties are here! My she-Kim has returned from an epic adventure in States “and Bahamas – don’t forget the Bahamas – they were beautiful!” She has a suntan. I hate her just a little bit but I love her too. My wing woman is home.

And my other bestie’s here as well. So we’re having a lovely little party here at home – the kids have just arrived, the dog doesn’t know who to snog first (but Kim’s getting a hammering), the fire’s going, the music’s on – happy. Happy. Happy.

Happy. 🙂

  1. Awesome stuff Sue, if only all councillors were as enthusiastic as you!

    • Thanks so much Bobby. That’s really kind and I appreciate it so much. And now – to the evening session. 🙂
