Sue Wells – The New Canterbury Tales

March 7, 2011

And then it hits you.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sue Wells @ 9:58 pm

I’ve been going through piles of boxes that were in Nick’s wardrobe – the kind that have the magazine clippings, the baby pictures, the positive pregnancy tests (no I am not a hoarder I am a Mum) because Jendy Harper is coming around tomorrow morning to film here with Campbell Live. My house is covered in dust and I am going to lie and blame it on the earthquake

Most of my stuff is on video. I’m not going to look at it. Just looking at the paper stuff I’ve stored, the magazine clippings from when CTV folded and I ran “Save Our Channel” from my house in Bishopsworth Street, the Telethon posters, the literally hundreds of thank you letters from people I had completely forgotten ever helping – too much.

It hurts, it hurts, it hurts. Showed Mum and Dad the video I took in town today – watching them look at Chch in bits – it hurts.

I know it will all be better in years to come but right now I am so bloody angry I wish I could grab whoever is responsible by the throat and punch their lights out.

Bit hard to get a hold of Gaia though.

Might have to cuddle the dog instead.

  1. Thank you for putting into words what so many are feeling right now. Anger is good, Sue, and I know you will use it wisely. If anyone can get answers to the difficult questions it is you. Stay strong sweetheart.

    • Thank you so much my darling. I made a decision when I started this blog that I’m not going to sanitise it. (Unless I catch a soldier – in which case you’ll just see khaki sparkles). We have to stay strong for each other but staying strong means staying well – and that means being honest about how we’re feeling.
I love your support and your strength. Thank you. xxx
